Crandall (1-1) suffered a disappointing loss to Kaufman last week in a matchup that featured an array of missed opportunities for Coach Kyle Hardin’s squad. Alvarado (0-2) scored two late touchdowns against Decatur in a 27-14 loss last week to remain winless.
Chris Abron has established himself as one of the top backs in the area with 185 yards and three scores last week. The talented junior has rushed for 327 yards and five touchdowns in two impressive outings.
The Pirates offense is directed by senior quarterback Jamonte Gordon-West, who hooked up with junior receiver Luke Moffitt on a 47-yard scoring bomb last week against Kaufman. Gordon-West threw for 197 yards on the road a week ago, and has 412 yards and five touchdowns heading into the third week of the young season.
Alvarado will lean heavily on running backs Kameron Webb and Jayden Bridgewater. Webb rushed for 244 yards and three touchdowns on 21 carries last week, while Bridgewater added 106 rushing yards on 18 carries.
Junior quarterback West Connor directs an offensive attack that amassed over 500 total yards last week, including 125 passing yards.
