Crandall (1-0) outclassed Jacksonville in a high-scoring matchup to open the season last week, while Kaufman upset Lindale — which advanced to the Class 4A D1 state title game a year ago.
The Pirates showcased a wealth of offensive weapons in the season-opening game with senior quarterback Jamonte Gordon-West tossing four touchdowns. Junior wideout Luke Moffitt (5-89-3), who also added 133 return yards, and sophomore receiver Josh Smith (5-58-1) combined for 10 catches and four touchdowns.
Running Chris Abron rushed for 142 yards on 21 carried while notching a pair of scoring runs. The talented back also threw a five-yard touchdown pass.
Kaufman (1-0) rallied from a 20-6 deficit in the second quarter to knockoff a solid Lindale squad. Junior running back Braxton Garman is a powerful runner who tallied 84 yards on 13 carries and a pair of touchdowns.
Senior quarterback Derek Clamon ran for a score and threw for another one to rally the Lions past the Eagles. Senior receiver Daylon Dickerson, a 6-foot-6 target, hauled in five catches for 80 yards and a touchdown.
