Crandall Pirates Football Week 1 Players of the Week


CRANDALL – Senior quarterback Jamonte Gordon-West and junior wide receiver Luke Moffitt headlines the Crandall Pirates Week One Players of the Week.

Gordon-West was named Offensive Skill Player of the Week. The 6-foot signal-caller connected on 10 of 14 passes for 204 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Pirates to a 51-36 victory over the Jacksonville Indians in the season-opening game for both squads.

Moffitt, the Pirates’ Special Team Player of the Week, tallied 219 total yards while erupting for numerous big plays — including a trio of touchdown catches (5, 25 and 58 yards), and several exciting punt and kickoff returns (32, 37 and 64 yards).

Sophomore cornerback Kendrick Jones was tabbed as the Defensive Skill Player of the Week, and senior defensive end Cade Bleakney and senior offensive lineman Dorian Maple were selected D-Lineman Player of the Week and O-Lineman Player of the Week, respectively.

Crandall (1-0) will travel to Kaufman (1-0) on Friday night to butt heads with the Lions in a non-district matchup.
