The Rundown

The Dragons routed the Lions in a 37-0 blowout a year ago, but must replace their two biggest offensive threats in running backs Johnny Lucky and Tyvon Jeffrie.

Quarterback Eric Singleton, who is also a capable placekicker, will join All-District wide receiver Davontae Oliver and running back Sadaveon Malcolm as the nucleus for Seagoville’s offensive attack.

Defensively, the Dragons allowed 241 yards per game last season to finish as the fifth-ranked scoring defense in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area.

Seagoville’s Davontae Oliver, a speedy All-District receiver, runs the ball against R.L. Turner in last season’s lopsided victory.

The Lions snapped a three-year winless drought last year with a narrow 13-12 win over the Samuell Spartans. Prior to the victory, R.L. Turner had not won a game since 2017.

Two-way lineman Isaiah Cabriales earned all-district accolades in 2020, and sophomore linebacker Robby Martinez — who contributed 13 tackles in five games as a freshman — are expected to pace the Lions’ defensive unit.

Running back Devon Perez, wide receiver Dylan Hernandez, and tight end Angel Hernandez are all expected to provide the offensive fireworks this upcoming season

Moore’s pick: Seagoville 30, R.L. Turner 7
