CARROLLTON – The Seagoville Dragons found the end zone on their first four possessions to open the new season with a lopsided 48-0 victory over the R.L. Turner Lions Thursday night at Standridge Stadium.
The Dragons (1-0) put together an impressive 13-play opening drive that consumed nearly six minutes to grab an early 7-0 advantage. Sophomore quarterback Isaiah Gonzalez capped the drive with a six-yard touchdown run.
Seagoville needed only three plays to find pay dirt on its next possession. Gonzalez connected with senior wideout Jordan Boswell for a 55-yard scoring pass to push the lead to 14-0.
A fumble by the Lions setup the Dragons third score of the first quarter. Junior signal-caller Eric Singleton completed a 14-yard pass to Tucker Beneay before racing 24 yards to put the home team in a 21-point hole.
Sophomore running back Ronald Manning added scoring runs of 14, 12 and one yard, and junior running back Raekwon Davis rushed 8 yards for a touchdown to help Seagoville deal R.L. Turner (0-1) its 37th loss in its past 40 matchups.
Manning led the Dragons rushing attack with 85 yards and three scores, while Gonzalez, Singleton, and Davis each chipped in a touchdown. Boswell was the top receiver with a trio of catches for 99 yards and one score.
Seagoville’s defense limited the Lions to only nine first downs and 106 total yards, including just one passing yard.
The Dragons will play host to Fort Worth Trimble Tech in their home opener on Friday, Sept. 3, at James Ray Henry Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
