SEAGOVILLE – Former Seagoville High School teacher Juanita McMahan passed away in 2016 at the age of 94. She began her teaching career at Seagoville High School in the fall of 1949.
Miss McMahan graduated from White Oak High School as Salutatorian in 1939. She was also a graduate of North Texas State, Colorado State and did post-graduate work at S.F.A and George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
Prior to finishing her studies to become a teacher, Miss McMahan was employed for five years as secretary of the late U.S. Congressman Lindley Beckworth.
Miss McMahan also taught at Brazosport High School, Arp High School and retired after 41 years of teaching — the last 28 of those at Jacksonville College.
A member of First Baptist Church in Jacksonville (Texas) since 1963, Miss McMahan taught Sunday school classes for more than 30 years. She was also a member of Golden Jubilee of FBC and the ETMC Auxiliary since 1989.
