SEAGOVILLE – Former Seagoville High School Agriculture teacher Wayne Phillips passed away in 2016 at the age of 91. Riding a good horse and checking his cattle were always a pleasure to him.
Mr. Phillips taught students for 36 years at Seagoville High School. He molded and influenced the lives of thousands of young men and women, and became a legend at SHS and the Dallas ISD.
Mr. Phillips married his wife, Billie Frank Hurt, on live TV in 1953 in New York City on a show called The Bride and Groom after the two met during a thunderstorm where she and her horse and Wayne wound up under the same shed.
Mr. Phillips joined the Navy during World War II before attending Oklahoma A&M. In his golden years, he loved telling stories and dancing every chance he got.
